There was also the first chat, right here on cyber-beach.com, in a Java format. The 1996 code that ran it is long ago obsolete and that section is gone.

Long before Facebook, and as soon as people got on the internet, they wanted to interact with each other. It took about another decade before technology like Facebook would complete the job of bringing people together on the web.
